Having a passion for the sport they gathered other tennis enthusiasts like Jo Conn of Community Real Estate together and formed the McCall Community Tennis Association. In one year this organization, which now boasts over 100 members, raised $31,000 to resurface two of the four public courts and organized programs for adults and children to socialize, compete and learn to play. Their “Grand Slam Fundraising Party” held at the beginning of the tennis season raised $10,000 for the resurfacing the courts. They now have a group of enthusiastic players and are working with the city of McCall on some long range plan for four courts in a new public park to be built in five years.
In March of this year the organization received the Organization of the Year Award given annually to recognize the services rendered to Intermountain USTA members by its member organizations. More information can be found on the McCall Community Tennis Association at www.mccalltennis.org
